I remember these buildings from my childhood. I would visit Aunt Adeline & Uncle Gerald on the farm every summer - spending several days there "working on the farm"!! Since I was so much younger than Roger (some 12 years), I was always the one who was protected by my older and wiser cousin.
Roger was a strong soul with solid roots in Iowa. He will be missed.
Love and Peace - Cousin Cherie from Cedar Rapids
I spent many an hour in my youth playing monopoly, war, etc. with Roger. Even then his drive to always be right and to win, taught me many a lesson on how to be a good loser. On the other hand we did get into a great deal of mischief, especially the day we knocked out all the windows in the chicken house. I think we were 8 & 9 at the time. Uncle Gerald was singularly unimpressed and I believe we both suffered from sore bottoms for several days.
All though I now live in another country, we have kept in touch via the internet. Our common roots in Iowa farming community have stood us in good stead.
He was a great guy.
God Bless You All,
Jerry Anway
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this difficult time.
Love,

"To Those I Love"
by Isla Paschal Richardson
If I should ever leave you
whom I love
To go along the Silent Way,
grieve not,
Nor speak of me with tears,
but laugh and talk
Of me as if I were
beside you there.
(I'd come -- I'd come,
could I but find a way!
But would not tears and grief
be barriers?)
And when you hear a song
or see a bird
I loved, please do not let
the thought of me
Be sad . . . For I am
loving you just as
I always have . . .
You were so good to me!
There are so many things
I wanted still
To do -- so many things
to say to you . . .
Remember that I
did not fear . . . It was
Just leaving you
that was so hard to face . . .
We cannot see Beyond . . .
But this I know:
I loved you so -- 'twas heaven
here with you!
